The Science of Detoxified Manufacturing
How Detoxified Manufacturing Cleans Your Coffee Beans Before They Reach Your Cup

The Problem Hiding in Plain Sight
Detoxified Manufacturing
Most coffee drinkers never ask what happened to their beans before roasting. You should. Behind every bag of Rahm Roast is a patent-pending process built to answer a simple question: can coffee be made safer without changing the taste you love?
Conventional coffee production relies heavily on agricultural chemicals. Pesticides that protect crops in the field don't always disappear by the time beans reach a roaster. Washing, drying, and standard roasting reduce some of these residues, but they don't eliminate them. That gap is exactly where our patent-pending process, filed under Docket No. Crahm2024-04, was designed to work.
We call this approach Detoxified Manufacturing, and it's the foundation of everything Rahm Roast does. Rather than treating detoxification as an afterthought, we built it into the core of the production line, from bean intake through final packaging.
A Two-Phase Rinse, Not a Marketing Claim
Detoxified Manufacturing
At the center of the process is a two-stage rinse using a zeolite-enhanced solution. Zeolites are naturally occurring minerals known for their microporous structure and strong adsorption properties. In our formulation, a zeolite concentrate works alongside ascorbic acid and a sea mineral concentrate to bind and draw out trace contaminants from the surface and inner structure of the bean.
The two rinse stages exist because a single pass isn't enough. Controlled mechanical agitation and a full solution exchange between stages create the kind of interfacial contact that meaningfully improves contaminant extraction, an approach borrowed from analytical chemistry and pharmaceutical manufacturing, industries that have relied on multi-stage extraction for decades even though coffee processing has been slow to adopt it.
Why Roasting Temperature Matters More Than You Think
Detoxified Manufacturing
The rinse is only half the story. Roasting itself plays a role in breaking down pesticide residues through thermal decomposition, a process that can reduce certain pesticide remnants when time and temperature are carefully controlled. That's why precision matters just as much as the formula. Detoxified Manufacturing isn't a single step. It's a coordinated system of storage, temperature control, rinsing, and drying, each stage designed to support the one before it.
Quality You Can Verify
Detoxified Manufacturing
None of this matters if it comes at the cost of flavor, so every batch is evaluated against our 91-point cupping score before it earns the Rahm Roast name. We also submit our coffee to third-party testing for mold-free certification, because we believe claims about safety should be verifiable, not just stated. Combined with Fair Trade, single-origin sourcing from Guatemala, this is what it looks like when a coffee brand treats manufacturing as seriously as it treats sourcing.
It's important to be clear about what this process is not. It is not a replacement for organic farming, and it doesn't claim to remove all contaminants under every condition. What it offers is a scalable, repeatable way to meaningfully reduce trace toxins without relying on harsher decaffeination or detoxification methods already used elsewhere in the industry.
